Rockets deliver small cargo and satellites to earth’s orbit.
The first artificial Earth satellite was launched by the USSR on October 4, 1957. The code name for the satellite was PS-1 (Basic Elementary Satellite). The Satellite was launched from spaceport Baikonur Cosmodrome on a Sputnik Rocket built on the base of an R-7 intercontinental ballistic missile.
